I recently did an image of my Mate Chris's lil girl dressed as her fave bunny with her favourite toons. First time i've actually attempted to draw popular cartoon characters, had to use a bit of reference and play it safe as Chris wanted them to be familiar and recognisable...but not a bad attempt if i do say so myself.... although next time I'm gonna play around and stylize em a bit more. ;)

Life drawing is an essential subject for anybody who plans to earn a living drawing the human body, so I decided to take a few classes this year. But I figured if i'm gonna do this, the I might as well make it interesting. I've always wandered what it would be like on the other end of the canvas with people drawing you...So i decided to find out myself. :)

Here's the colored version of my entry into this years EAT YOUR ART OUT exhibition.

The theme of the show is The Dark and Cryptic origins of Nursery Rhymes. I chose the cautionary tale of THE SPIDER & THE FLY and gave it a roller derby twist. :) I'm trying to develop a sort of style with my entries into this competition hence why both years pieces have a uniform sort of appearance (see 2010 entry below). I'm really happy with the Characters especially the Spider. Got a long way to go before i'm confident enough with using color...but i'm happy with my progress. :)

This been my first Blog post and the 1st day of the year i'd like to kick off by wishing you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Last year summer I was commissioned to design a T-Shirt for a band named THE SCORE (see September 2010 post). The band liked the design so much they recently commissioned me and a team of animators to bring the designs to life for a short animated music vid. Here are a couple of draft images from the project to kick start the BloG posTs for 2011. ENJOY

It's the first time I've ever drawn for animation so it required a less messy and busy approach which I'm still fine tuning. I'll post up the finished version along with links to the animation if the project gets picked up and finished...fingers crossed.

I recently got approached by the Moorfields eye hospital to donate a piece of work to their fun raising event ART OF GIVING. The event is due to take place at the Saatchi Gallery of all places...not bad for someone who decided to earn a living from drawing a year ago eh? :)

I recently started a project to design 2 characters for animation on a BBC2 show. Here are the character sheets for both characters, i was tryna go for something original that i hadn't seen before with the designs, the color was a different style to any i've used in the past. IT'S MILLAR TIME BABY!!!! lol...almost all my Amazon purchases came from this guy. After watching the awesome KICKASS i decided it was time i found out more about this MARK MILLAR fella. I wasn't at all dissapointed!!! I picked up the KICK ASS, WOLVERINE ENEMY OF THE STATE and OLD MAN LOGAN graphic novels...put it this way...my faith in the comic book industry has been revived. Mark Millar's works are often the four-color equivalents of blockbuster action movies, and "Enemy of the State" is no exception. Millar began his 12-issue epic by doing something few writers would dare – he killed Wolverine.
The central premise behind this story is that a new leader has emerged in the criminal underworld. Known simply as The Gorgon, this mastermind has taken command of both the endless hordes of HYDRA and the undead ninjas of The Hand. Gorgon's murder of Wolverine is one piece of a larger puzzle designed to overthrow SHIELD and the various superpowers of the world.
Naturally, Wolverine doesn't stay dead. He is resurrected by Hand magic and brainwashed into becoming Gorgon's ultimate assassin. In this way, Logan reverts to the bestial killer he always feared himself to be. Suddenly, the entire superhero community are quaking in their boots at the thought that Wolverine might be coming to kill them. And for many of them, the nightmare becomes reality. Before this storyline ends, Wolverine will battle Elektra, Daredevil, the Fantastic Four and even his friends in the X-Men.

In an unknown place, unknown time period, the beaten and bloodied figure of Wolverine stumbles in the woods, under a red moon. The heroes fell defeated—no one yet knows exactly how—but Wolverine was hurt more than others. He disappeared and became a completely different person.
Now, 50 years into the future, a secluded farm in the desert of what used to be Sacramento, California. An old man on a horse—barely reminiscent of the fighter he used to be—gets back home. His oldest son notifies him that the tractor is broken again; Logan tells his wife he couldn't get the money for the rent. The collectors are about to come and demand their money.
Logan admits to his wife, Maureen, that he failed himself and his family. He can't pay the landlords, Hulk's grandchildren, and has possibly doomed his family for his mistakes.
Two days later, the Hulk Gang arrives at the farm and demands the money. The leader, Miss Banner, already knows Logan has no money to pay. Her brothers Charlie and Otis are ready to punish him. Logan doesn't react to their yells and suddenly pops his claws, cutting Charlie in a half, to the horror of his family. A moment later, everything is back to normal—the skirmish was all in Logan's head. He then answers that he is willing to take his punishment and the Hulk brothers hit him in a way that would've killed a normal person, the old man showing no objection. The Hulk Gang wants double payment next month and leaves the farm.
Logan is in his bed, bandaged and healing. An old friend, Hawkeye — now a blind man—pays him a visit. Hawkeye offers a solution: Logan will accompany him on a delivery job to New Babylon in the East Coast and get the money he needs for the rent. The next morning Logan says goodbye to his family. He's surprised to see the blind man in the driver's seat, but Clint says Logan's job is to read the map and warn him of obstacles. Logan is also surprised by the vehicle—a new version of the Spider-Mobile. The trip just started and from what the map shows—America divided to 6 different dangerous turfs—it won't be a smooth ride.

HOW TO TRAIN YOU DRAGON!

The character design book for the new Dreamworks film due out later this month. It features the work of Nicolas Marlet (of Kung-fu Panda fame),one of the best character designers working today, and a whole host of deliscious visuals from other artists.

A SKETCHY PAST!!!

The art work of Peter De Seve, the genius behind the characters of ICE AGE1&3, Finding Nemo, A Bugs Life and other Disney Pixar films. Also well known for his amazing Cover designs for the famous NEW YORKER magazine. Both these books are a must have for any artist, character designer or joe avaerage who likes to look at amazing visuals.
